A message to Hoosier Nation

As the Hoosiers advance to the WNIT championship game, President and First Lady McRobbie encourage IU fans to fill Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday!

Dear Hoosier Nation,

One more game!

Last night, in front of a loud and frenzied crowd at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall of nearly 8,000 fans, the IU women’s basketball team defeated Texas Christian University, earning the right to play in – and host – the championship game in the WNIT on Saturday.

Congratulations to Coach Teri Moren, seniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill, and our talented, resilient and hardworking Hoosier squad, who have inspired all of us with their exceptional play these last several weeks and are now just one step away from achieving their ultimate goal.

Tipoff for the title game against Virginia Tech is now set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, which is guaranteed to be rocking.

Wednesday night’s crowd was the fourth largest ever at Assembly Hall for women’s basketball and the largest in more than a decade. After the game, several players, coaches and fans said that the unprecedented noise level and overall atmosphere generated by the crowd gave them goosebumps. Without a doubt, the strong Hoosier spirit in the building gave our team the boost it needed to overcome a tough TCU effort.

To “WiNIT” and cap off what has been one of the most memorable seasons in the history of our women’s basketball program, we will need an even bigger and more spirited crowd on Saturday. The most fans we have ever had for a women’s game is 10,000. Let’s top that number and demonstrate the full force of Hoosier Nation. In fact, let’s fill Assembly Hall!

Tickets can be purchased online, over the phone or in person at the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall West Lobby ticket windows. Phone lines and ticket windows are open today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. IU students are admitted free, and we especially need them on Saturday.

This is truly a special moment for our Hoosiers. Now let’s show them the support they deserve and help them hang another banner in Assembly Hall. We’ll be there – come join us!

Thank you to the very best fans in the nation, and go IU!

Yours sincerely,

Michael A. McRobbie, President, and
Laurie Burns McRobbie, First Lady
