At the sixth Workshop on the Ostrom Workshop, Indiana University honored the late Distinguished Professor Elinor Ostrom, the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences.

The conference was sponsored by the IU Bicentennial and was focused on "Governance: Past, Present, and Future." Held every five years since 1994, the WOW conference enables researchers, students and alumni from the Ostrom Workshop to reconnect for presentations and discussions of their work and areas of common interest.

"I am delighted to be here to pay tribute to Lin Ostrom, a pioneering, influential scholar whose life and career brought great distinction to Indiana University," said IU President Michael A. McRobbie when he welcomed participants to the conference held at IU Bloomington. "This sixth Workshop on the Ostrom Workshop holds special significance because this year will mark the 10th anniversary of Lin being awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2009."
