Minnesota Orchestra Reception

IU President Michael A. McRobbie hosted a reception for members of the Minnesota Orchestra after their performance at IU Auditorium on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Bryan House.

Their performance included Sibelius’s En Saga, Opus 9; Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Opus 23; and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major, Opus 92 and featured the Orchestra’s music director Osmo Vänskä as conductor and celebrated pianist Inon Barnatan, along with nine Minnesota Orchestra musicians who attended IU’s Jacobs School of Music.

In addition to its performance at IU Auditorium, the orchestra members participated in many residency programs during their visit. Among these programs are master classes, mock auditions, a panel with the Jacobs School of Music's Project Jumpstart students, a luncheon at the Hutton Honors College and a side-by-side rehearsal with the Jacobs School of Music Philharmonic Orchestra.
