Janis Russell Visit
Janis Russell Visit
Indiana University Associate Vice President for Overseas Study Kathleen Sideli (right) gives Lafayette Inspirational Ensemble Director Janis Russell a tour of Bryan Hall during a visit to IU Bloomington. Russell graduated in 1975 with a BA in Italian from IU, which included a year studying at the University of Bologna where she started singing professionally.
During her tour of Bryan Hall, Janis Russell looks out a window that overlooks Dunn's Woods.
IU President Michael A. McRobbie greets Janis Russell. The two met in Bologna, Italy in May 2016 when Russell performed during the 50th anniversary celebration of the IU Bologna Consortial Studies Program. Russell is a celebrated jazz and blues singer, who has performed for, among other luminaries, President Bill Clinton, Pope John Paul II and Nelson Mandela.
IU alumna Janis Russell and IU President Michael A. McRobbie stand beside a bust of Herman B Wells in Bryan Hall.
