Jerry Hammes expresses his gratitude for being named the 2016 IU South Bend Chancellor's Medallion Award recipient along with his wife Dorene. Dorene and Jerry Hammes have focused their philanthropy on education throughout their lives. Among their many gifts to IU South Bend, the couple's most recent gift established the Student Veterans Book Club. Now in its second year, the club is helping students, faculty, staff and the community understand and support veterans and their families.
