IU President Michael A. McRobbie honored 10 faculty members and one graduate student for excellence in teaching, research and service to the university during the 2016 Celebration of Distinguished Teaching dinner.

IU President Michael A. McRobbie presents Katy Börner, Katy Börner, a visualization researcher from the IU Bloomington School of Informatics and Computing, with a distinguished professor award.
IU President Michael A. McRobbie presents Roger P. Hangarter with a distinguished professor award during the Celebration of Distinguished Teaching dinner. Hangarter is a molecular plant biologist from the IU Bloomington Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences. The rank of distinguished professor was created by the IU Board of Trustees in 1967. The title is conferred by the university president with approval of the board.

The award was established in 1974 to recognize outstanding teaching, research or service. As a distinguished teaching award, it serves to honor the most exceptional faculty, their devotion to students, and their strong commitment to the university's fundamental missions of excellence in education and research.

It is presented to university graduate students who combine their programs of advanced study with instructional employment in their schools and departments.

Haeberle Professor of Entrepreneurship and director of the Institute for International Business in the IU Kelley School of Business. Initiated in 1991, Ryan Award honors faculty members and librarians from all campuses for exceptional contributions to the university's international programs and studies.
